Fast upper and lower bounds for a large‐scale real‐world arc routing problem

چکیده
Arc routing problems (ARPs) are a special kind of vehicle problem, in which the demands located on edges or arcs, instead nodes. There is huge literature ARPs, and variety exact heuristic algorithms available. Recently, however, we encountered some real-life ARPs with over 10 000 roads, much larger than those usually considered literature. For these problems, develop fast upper- lower-bounding procedures. We also present extensive computational results.

The Capacitated Arc Routing Problem: Lower bounds
1997 ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS We would like mostly to thank Mr. Peter Keenan, who was as much a partner as a supervisor, for his invaluable time and erudite guidance during the summer. We must also pay tribute to our parents for their encouragement and support, not only for the duration of this dissertation, but throughout the year. ABSTRACT The Capacitated Arc Routing Problem is a NP-hard arc routi...
متن کاملNode Duplication Lower Bounds for the Capacitated Arc Routing Problem
It is well-known that the tight lower bounds determine the effectiveness of the brancn and bound method for the NP-hard problems. In this paper, we present a new lower bounding procedure for the capacitated arc routing problem (CARP), one of the arc routing problems. They give the tight lower bounds and it is easy to develop an exact algorithm usinl~ their network structures.
متن کاملUpper and lower bounds for numerical radii of block shifts
For an n-by-n complex matrix A in a block form with the (possibly) nonzero blocks only on the diagonal above the main one, we consider two other matrices whose nonzero entries are along the diagonal above the main one and consist of the norms or minimum moduli of the diagonal blocks of A. In this paper, we obtain two inequalities relating the numeical radii of these matrices and also determine ...
متن کاملImproved lower bounds and exact algorithm for the capacitated arc routing problem
In the Capacitated Arc Routing Problem (CARP), a subset of the edges of an undirected graph has to be serviced at least cost by a fleet of identical vehicles in such a way that the total demand of the edges serviced by each vehicle does not exceed its capacity. This paper describes a new lower bounding method for the CARP based on a set partitioning-like formulation of the problem with addition...
